Elon Musk Agrees on Youtube Ads: “It’s Getting Out of Control”

10 months ago 53

Elon Musk, the owner of X (formerly known as Twitter), SpaceX, and Tesla, has joined the chorus of YouTube users unhappy with the increasing number of ads on the video-sharing platform.

Growing Frustration among Youtube community

YouTube, a part of Google, is facing criticism for bombarding users of its free service with more ads. Musk’s comments on this issue have sparked a significant response from the YouTube community.

In the comments, many users share Musk’s concerns and suggest he should create a YouTube alternative. Others point out that users can escape ads by subscribing to YouTube Premium for $13.99 a month in the US.

Over the weekend, a Dogecoin designer known as DogeDesigner on X (formerly Twitter) shared the sentiment that “YouTube has more ads than the rest of the websites combined on the whole internet.” Musk concurred, stating, “It’s getting out of control.” Elon Musk’s alignment with YouTube users who are concerned about the abundance of advertisements underscores the ongoing debate surrounding ad-driven revenue models on online platforms.

Musk’s Earlier Remarks on YouTube Ads

This is not the first instance of Musk commenting on the matter of YouTube ads. Earlier this month, he likened YouTube’s advertising tactics to “Ad creep,” a term denoting the expansion of advertising into areas where it was not traditionally prevalent.

Musk’s outspoken stance on YouTube ads has spurred conversations within the YouTube community. Some users have pointed out that ad-free YouTube experiences can be accessed by subscribing to the platform’s premium tier. Musk’s social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), also continues to display ads to users despite the monthly subscription fee of $8 in the US.

In response to user concerns, Musk is taking action. He’s introduced two new premium subscription plans, including the Premium+ tier, which offers a completely ad-free experience for $16 a month in the US.
