Gaming smartphone maker ASUS is gearing up for its next-gen gaming series dubbed the ASUS ROG Phone 8. The Taiwanese giant has already started teasing some of its specs starting with the all-powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC as the giant confirmed the chipset.

ASUS confirms ROG Phone 8 chipset

Comprising three models – ROG Phone 8, ROG Phone 8 Pro, and ROG Phone 8 Ultimate, the upcoming gaming series will get Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC under the hood. Built on a 4nm node by TSMC, the chipset carries a peak clock speed of 3.3 GHz.

It was recently spotted on AnTuTu crossing the 2 million points mark proving the fact that it is 20% more efficient and 30% more powerful than its predecessor – Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The chipset uses Cortex-X4, Cortex-A720, and Cortex-A520 cores which helped it achieve more than a 36% hike in the benchmarking results even before we got our hands on the chipset.

It’s not just ASUS but many smartphone makers have already lined up their flagship device that will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC under the hood. Xiaomi already took the title of ‘first smartphone maker to use the chipset’ with the Xiaomi 14 series while leaked OnePlus 12’s AnTuTu gave us more than 2 million points on AnTuTu as well. OnePlus 12 is scheduled to arrive in China later this year followed by early next year’s launch.

Realme GT5 Pro, iQOO 12 series, Xiaomi Redmi K70 series, and Samsung Galaxy S24 series among others are in line to launch their flagship phones powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC as well.

When it comes to the ASUS ROG Phone 8 release date, we don’t have any official information about it. ROG Phone 7 arrived in mid-April which means we could get to see ROG Phone 8 around the same time next year. It is unless ASUS decides to follow footsteps of its competitors who are preponing launch dates for their respective flagship devices.
