Apple Wraps Up “Scary Fast” Showcase with New Macs Powered by M3 Chips

Apple concluded its highly anticipated “Scary Fast” showcase event with a slew of exciting announcements. The tech giant unveiled a powerful lineup of Macs featuring their latest in-house M3 chips, marking significant advancements in chip technology.

New M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max computer chips to power new Macs

The M3 series chips, which Apple touts as the “first personal computer chips” produced using the highly efficient 3-nanometer process, garnered substantial attention during the event. This new chip family consists of the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max, all offering a faster and more efficient CPU along with a revamped GPU supporting ray tracing, mesh shading, and Dynamic Caching, optimizing memory usage during tasks.

The M3 chips also boast up to 128GB of unified memory, with the M3 Max taking the lead with up to 92 billion transistors, a 40-core GPU, and a 16-core CPU. These advancements promise to elevate the performance and capabilities of Apple’s Mac lineup.

24-inch iMac upgraded with M3

Apple’s 24-inch iMac received an M3-powered makeover, promising a twofold performance boost compared to its M1-equipped predecessor. The upgraded iMac also features a stunning 4.5K Retina display with over 1 billion colors, support for Wi-Fi 6E, a 1080p webcam, and up to 24GB of unified memory. Apple offers the 24-inch iMac in seven vibrant colors, along with matching accessories featuring Lightning connectors.

The 24-inch iMac is available for pre-order, starting at $1,299 with an eight-core CPU or $1,499 with a 10-core chip, and it will be officially released on November 7th.

New Macbook 14 Pro and Macbook 16 Pro powered by M3 Pro announced

Apple expanded its M3 chip integration beyond the iMac, introducing new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. These laptops come with a choice of the M3 Pro or the higher-end M3 Max chips and feature Mini LED displays, a 1080p camera, a six-speaker sound system, an impressive 22 hours of battery life, and support for up to 128GB of RAM. These MacBook Pro models are available in space black and silver finishes.

The 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M3 Pro chip starts at $1,999, while the 16-inch M3 Pro model starts at $2,499. Pre-orders are now open, with availability commencing on November 7th.

For consumers looking for an entry-level MacBook Pro, Apple has released a budget-friendly option, replacing the 13-inch MacBook Pro with an M2 chip. Priced at $1,599, this 14-inch model comes equipped with the base M3 chip, delivering up to 60 percent faster performance. However, it features just 8GB of RAM and is available in silver and space gray options. The black color is exclusively reserved for the higher-end MacBook Pro models.

The entry-level MacBook Pro is open for pre-orders, with an official release date of November 7th, and it bids farewell to the Touch Bar in favor of traditional physical keys.
