Stage Manager and more features added in the update

The tech giant Apple will release the update for its macOS and iPadOS. The iPadOS 16 updates will support all iPad Pros, the 5th-generation iPad and iPad mini and, later, the 3rd-generation iPad Air and, later, iPad Air 2, a few other models, and all the new iPads. The macOS Ventura update will require a Mac released in 2017 or later, including support for various models released between 2013 and 2016.

The company announced some new features that the updates will offer on iPads and Macs, which include editing and deleting iMessages, a large-screened Weather app, redesigned Home app, better search in Mail, passkey support in Safari, and improved gamepad support. In addition, both versions will also include the Stage Manager window-management feature, and Ventura will come with a redesigned System Settings app.

The macOS update went through a series of updates in the beta version since its release between early June and early October. On the other hand, the iPadOS update has been a little complex because of the new Stage Manager multitasking features; therefore, the iPadOS 16 release got delayed from September to October, which is why it was released next week instead of alongside iOS 16 last month.

Earlier, the Stage Manager required an M1 iPad Air or Pro and dedicated external display support that iPad has lacked since its 2010 launch. In late September, Apple expanded Stage Manager compatibility to 2018 and 2020 iPad Pro models with the A12X and A12Z processors but delayed multi-monitor support to a later update. However, as per a report, developers and Apple media personalities complained that Stage Manager in recent beta versions is still buggy and crash-prone.
