Apple Watch Ultra 2, Apple Watch Series 9 To Get New Color Options, New Chipset

We are already in the third quarter of 2023 and that calls for some hard-earned rumors and specs coming from various sources regarding the upcoming iPhone 15 series and beyond. Turns out Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Apple Watch Series 9, slated to arrive later this year, could get new color options and yes, a new chipset as per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman’s previous report.

Apple Watch Ultra 2’s New Black Titanium Case

The upcoming Apple Watch Ultra 2 is expected to come with a new black titanium case. It was already tried and tested last year with the first-gen Apple Watch Ultra, however, the finish didn’t get a go-ahead. With that being said, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 will get a darker titanium finish compared to the current titanium finish. Ultra 2 will be launched with both color variants once it debuts last later this year.

Apart from the colorways, we have a faster S9 chip on the Ultra 2 based on the Apple A15 Bionic chipset. This bit of information was referenced in one of the recent newsletters by Bloomberg’s Gurman.

Apple Watch Series 9 New Color Options

It’s not just Apple Watch Ultra 2 getting its hands on a new color, the upcoming Apple Watch Series 9 too will present a new color option aka ‘Pink’. To elaborate further, the aluminum version will be available in Starlight, Silver, Midnight, (Product) Red, and Pink. On the other hand, the stainless steel version will be available in Gold, Silver, and Graphite colorways.

Unfortunately, there are no major changes in the design as per ShrimpApplePro, a trusted tipster. Of course, one could argue there will be some changes on Apple Watch Series 9 compared to Series 8 but they won’t be monumental in terms of design. Perhaps, there will be a compact retail box if you want to flaunt it, I guess.

Moving ahead, we have an S9 chipset onboard, a major upgrade over the S6 chipset. Again, it’s the chipset based on iPhone 13’s A15 Bionic chip that promises better performance for sure.

Talking about the launch timeline, both Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Apple Watch Series 9 are expected to launch alongside iPhone 15 series probably in September or October. Fortunately, we don’t have to wait much since we are barely a few weeks away from the supposed launch.
