10 months ago 46

On November 7, Apple released minor updates in the form of iOS 17.1.1 and iPadOS 17.1.1 which sits on top of iOS 17 and iPadOS 17.1 which was released this September. It comes two weeks after iOS 17.1 arrived that brought a bunch of updates from StandBy, Apple Music features as well as the new AirDrop with the ability to send large files over the internet. As usual, watchOS 10.1.1 has joined the wagon too for all the compatible Apple Watch models.

iOS 17.1.1 & iPadOS 17.1.1 Released

You can get hold of the iOS 17.1.1 updates via Settings >> General >> Software Updates. Talking about what the new updates bring to the table, it has fixed the Weather lock screen widget that was showing an incorrect snow display. There were issues around NFC-related features such as Apple Pay becoming unavailable on iPhone 15 models reportedly after wirelessly charging their phones in certain cars i.e. BMW.

The iOS 17.1.1 should have reportedly fixed device shutdowns and Wi-Fi connectivity issues that users have been reporting, however, the changelog doesn’t mention the same at the time of writing this. Apart from that, watchOS 10.1.1 has fixed an issue that would cause some Apple Watches to drain the battery quickly apart from ‘important bug fixes’ that the Cupertino-based giant hasn’t singled out.

iOS 17.2 and iPad 17.2 in the works

For the unversed, Apple is already working on iOS 17.2 and iPadOS 17.2. It released the first beta in the last week of October with a slew of features and will mark the release of a stable update soon.

The iOS 17.2 brings onboard a Journal app that lets users record their activities and thoughts much like an actual journal but on your iPhone. It has multimedia support that ensures your thoughts aren’t just bare text. With the upcoming iOS 17.2, you can respond to texts on the Messages app with stickers, Simply long press on the text and select ‘Add Sticker’ from the dropdown, and viola.

Another feature arriving on iOS 17.2 lets you create a shared playlist on Apple Music. Dubbed Collaborative Apple Music Playlists, it lets you and a bunch of your friends create a shared playlist that can be edited by the participants. Action Button on your iPhone 15 Pro series will get another task dubbed as ‘Translate’ which works exactly what it sounds like. It lets you translate phrases with just a tap. There are a bunch of other features in the works including new Weather widgets, Local Awareness emergency alerts, iCloud synching for Messages, and more.
