Apple is reportedly working on new accessibility features for iOS 18

The impending release of iOS 18 and macOS 15 demonstrates Apple’s continued dedication to accessibility in its products. These operating systems, being code-named Crystal and Glow, respectively, will bring several improved features designed to improve the user experience for people with disabilities.

Adaptive Voice Shortcuts, a feature that gives users more control via personalized spoken commands, is one of the noteworthy additions. Users can designate distinctive phrases to trigger particular accessibility settings, like Zoom, VoiceOver, or Voice Control, with this functionality. With this degree of customization, users can communicate with their devices more effectively and according to their requirements.

Better Live Speech functionality is yet another noteworthy improvement. With this feature, users can now organize transcribed phrases into custom categories while it transcribes spoken audio in real-time. The feature’s overall usability is improved by this organizing capability, which expedites access to crucial information.

Apple is also providing more support for custom font size adjustments to better serve the varied needs of users who need different font sizes to read text more easily. Though restricted to a few key macOS Sonoma apps — Calendar, Finder, Mail, Messages, and Notes—macOS 15 will expand this feature to five more apps: Books, News, Stocks, Tips, and Weather. 

Additionally, there have been rumors that additional customization may be possible, possibly enabling users to change the font size of the menu bar.
