Apple iPhone 15 To Go on Sale in India On the Same Day With Western Markets

1 year ago 60

In a significant move, Apple is gearing up to possibly launch the “Made in India” iPhone 15 alongside its global counterparts, marking a departure from the usual delay between shipments to India and other markets. While Apple has been assembling iPhones locally in India for some years, this development would be a historic first if it materializes.

Apple has been striving to minimize the gap between iPhone shipments from China and India. Reports suggest that the company is making progress towards achieving this goal, and Indian buyers could potentially purchase the “Made in India” iPhone 15 on the same day as the global launch this year.

iPhone 15 Local Production at Foxconn’s Chennai Facility

According to a recent report from the Economic Times, the iPhone 15 models destined for India are being produced at Foxconn’s facility in Chennai. Initially, these locally manufactured units will be made available to Indian consumers. Export to the United States and Europe is expected to commence after December, with the aim of synchronizing the releases of China and India-made units as closely as possible.

This move aligns with Apple’s long-term strategy to diversify its manufacturing sources and reduce reliance on Chinese manufacturers. By producing iPhones in India, Apple aims to ensure a more resilient supply chain and mitigate risks associated with overdependence on a single region.

Apple Wonderlust Product Launch Event

Apple has already announced its next product launch event, dubbed “Wonderlust,” scheduled for September 12. This event will likely reveal details about the availability of the iPhone 15 series, among other products such as the new Apple Watch. Notably, several iPhone models have been spotted on the BIS Indian certification website, hinting at their impending release.

Key iPhone 15 Upgrades

The iPhone 15 series is expected to come with a host of notable upgrades. One of the most anticipated features is the introduction of a USB Type-C port, addressing a long-standing user request. However, some reports suggest that Apple may bundle USB-C cables with USB 2.0 speeds, while Thunderbolt cables may be sold separately.

It’s worth noting that the release of the most expensive iPhone 15 variant, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, could be delayed by up to four weeks. The delay is attributed to challenges faced by Sony in providing a sufficient number of camera sensors in time for the planned release. Additionally, there are speculations that Apple may rebrand the iPhone 15 Pro Max as the “iPhone 15 Ultra,” featuring a titanium body instead of the traditional stainless steel.
