We were wrapping our heads around Google’s Pixel Feature Drop which arrived this Monday with a slew of features. However, it seems like Google wants us to keep playing with our devices and released a new QRP beta. Dubbed the Android 14 QPR3 Beta2, the update is live across Google Pixel 5a and above and brings a bunch of new bug fixes and beyond. So, is it time to upgrade? Well, hold your horses and check out the details before you can proceed.

Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2 Releases With Bug Fixes

Google has indeed released the Android 14 QRP3 Beta 2 and it is rolling out as an OTA update across eligible devices slowly and steadily. With that, here are some of the key changes the update brings to the table.

What could be more annoying than your daily driver (aka your phone) crashing or restarting unexpectedly or abruptly? Well, Google has fixed this issue that would trigger the device to crash at times including when updating apps just after flashing a new update on the phone. Another crash instance recorded with previous QPR updates is when the scenes would go blank or black after restarting from a flash, well, it has been fixed too.

Moving on, there was a bug around the always-on display and Double tap to wake gesture on Pixel devices that would interfere and intertwine preventing users from unlocking their devices using their fingerprint. It has been fixed too. Another concern was the battery information not visible correctly on the status bar, system settings, and lock screen, it has been fixed as well.

With Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2, Google has fixed the issues around device-to-device transfer, restore, and backup which is working fine now. Apart from these, there are some obvious performance, system stability, and camera improvements in the mix.

Sideloading to Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2: Be Cautious

Planning to sideload Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2 and not wait for the regular OTA update, we would recommend you be cautious. It is because just like previous iterations, this version is prone to bricking your phone as well. We would recommend you enable OEM Unlock on your phone (via Settings) before sideloading the update.

Google should ideally roll out an update to fix the bricking problem, however, it hasn’t at least at the time of writing this. In case something comes up, we will surely update you with the same.
