1 year ago 84

Android 13 Go has been announced for low-end smartphones. Here are all the details you need to know about it.

Your swanky flagship Android phone may have just got the Android 13 update, or is getting ready. With more privacy features and greater customisation options, Android 13 is an update that most users are looking forward to. But what about those who have entry-level Android phones? Google is gifting them a lighter version of Android 13 that aims to offer a fast Android experience. Meet the Android 13 Go Edition, the next big update for several entry-level smartphones with very low RAM capacity.

For 250 million users of low-end smartphone using Android Go devices, the Android 13 update brings some key changes to enhance the experience. However, there is a little chance your device manufacturer may release the Android 13 Go update on your device, considering entry-level phones don't get new OS updates. Google itself says that new Android 13 Go devices will come out in 2023.

Android 13 Go to cater to budget smartphones

For Android 13 Go devices, users can expect to see the latest software updates via the Google Play updates. This will allows users to get all the crucial system updates outside of the major Android OS releases. Hence, those critical security patches should reach users easily.

Then there's the Google Discover Feed, which makes its debut on Android Go. Similar to the regular Android phones, swiping to the left of your homescreen will show the Discover feed with all news and latest updates.

Android 13 Go also wears the new Material You theme like regular Android devices, and it also brings in the wallpaper based colour theme engine. However, you will need to manually choose the colour theme here – no automatic changes.

Other than these, Android 13 Go also brings some of the noted Android 13 features such as Notification Permissions, App Language Preferences and more.

While Google is yet to announce any devices, you can expect entry-level smartphones from Redmi, Realme, Motorola and other affordable smartphone manufacturers to make use of the Android 13 Go experience.
