AirPods Pro 3: Here’s Everything We Know About The Upcoming Earbuds From Apple

9 months ago 44

AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) get new features

In 2022, Apple refreshed the AirPods Pro lineup by introducing the second-generation earbuds. It has been over a year since then, and the AirPods Pro 2 are still the best wireless earbuds the company offers. Well, per the latest leaks and reports, it will be so for another two years as the next-generation AirPods Pro will arrive sometime in 2025. Per a report by Bloomberg, the AirPods Pro 3 will come with several new features, including a refreshed design, better audio quality, and noise cancelation.

Apple’s H3 Chip To Fuel Several New Features On The AirPods Pro 3

First and foremost, the AirPods Pro 3 should feature a new chip. If the Cupertino-based tech giant sticks with the current naming convention, the chip could carry the monitor ‘H3.’ With the new, improved H3 chip, the AirPods Pro should deliver better audio quality. Since the noise cancelation relies on the AirPods’ chipset, the H3 chip should also improve ANC on the upcoming AirPods Pro. We might also see a design overhaul.

Since these earbuds would also pair with Apple’s Vision Pro mixed reality headset, the company has to put in extra effort to get the audio quality and noise cancelation on point. The new chipset should also help process health-related data from the AirPods Pro 3, as the new earbuds are touted to feature several features, such as a built-in hearing test that would play sounds and tones to test a person’s hearing and, most importantly, a new body temperature sensor.

Temperature Monitoring Sensor To Debut On AirPods Pro 3

For those catching up, Apple has been testing a body temperature sensor on the AirPods for quite some time, and if there’s any model that is likely to feature the sensor, it is the AirPods Pro 3. Currently, the Apple Watch Series 8, Series Ultra, and later devices are the only Apple device capable of measuring users’ temperature. However, if the AirPods do, in fact, ship with a temperature sensor, they should help with more accurate readings than the watch that measures temperature on the wrist.

In the past, Apple has also patented AirPods models with features like heart rate and perspiration level monitoring. An accelerometer in the AirPods charging case might also enable step tracking, which could be very useful for people who place their iPhones in a backpack while walking. It is pretty early, and Apple still needs to confirm these features. Hence, readers should take them with a pinch of salt.
