After the huge iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro gap row, some good news on iPhone 15

2 years ago 81

After fans hit out at the hug gap between iPhone plain 14 and iPhone 14 Pro phones, Apple looks to be backpaddling a little when it comes to iPhone 15.

Apple introduced Dynamic Island with the iPhone 14 Pro models- iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. That set off a huge row with fans left disappointed that the plain iPhone 14, which costs much less, will not have this premium feature. Now, there is speculation that Dynamic Island will be expanded to all the iPhone 15 models- both the standard as well as the Pro variants. According to the information provided by analyst and CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) Ross Young, Dynamic Island is expected on standard models on the iPhone 15 too. However, Apple will not go whole hog on it as Young is not expecting 120Hz/LTPO on standard models.

"Yes, Dynamic Island expected on standard models on the 15. Still not expecting 120Hz/LTPO on standard models as supply chain can't support it," Young replied to a tweet asking him about display news on the iPhone 15 range. Apple is expected to launch iPhone 15 series in September 2023, on the basis of the current launch pattern being followed by the company.

According to Apple, the Dynamic Island enables new ways to interact with the iPhone. It shows important alerts, notifications, and activities in real time. With the introduction of the Dynamic Island, the TrueDepth camera has been redesigned to take up less of the display area.

Without impeding content on the screen, the Dynamic Island maintains an active state to allow users easier access to controls with a simple tap-and-hold. Ongoing background activities like Maps, Music, or a timer remain visible and interactive, and third-party apps in iOS 16 that provide information like sports scores and ride-sharing with Live Activities can take advantage of the Dynamic Island.

"On iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, you can check alerts and current activity in progress—such as music that's playing, your timer, an AirDrop connection, and directions from Maps—in the Dynamic Island on the Home Screen or in any app. The Dynamic Island appears whenever your iPhone is unlocked. Touch and hold the Dynamic Island to expand it and see more details about the activity," Apple said.
