With an attractive starting price of Rs. 2.63 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), this compact scrambler marks Triumph’s entry into the affordable segment, offering enthusiasts an exciting taste of the iconic brand. The Scrambler 400 X shares its platform with the Triumph Speed 400 but brings its own distinctive flair, character, and purpose to the table. Stay tuned for our forthcoming first impressions in the Triumph Scrambler 400 X review, as we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to hit the road with this exciting addition.

Triumph Scrambler 400 X Powertrain and Specifications

Underneath its sleek exterior, the Scrambler 400 X boasts the same powerful heart as the Speed 400. This heart is a 398 cc, four-valve, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, DOHC engine tuned to perfection. It delivers a robust 39.5 bhp at 8,000 rpm and an impressive 37.5 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine is seamlessly mated to a 6-speed gearbox, complete with a torque assist clutch for smooth and responsive gear changes.

The Scrambler 400 X redefines the riding experience with its upright riding stance, placing the rider in a taller and more commanding position. It incorporates rider-focused enhancements, including a larger brake pedal and serrated footpegs designed for improved grip. These footpegs are thoughtfully positioned lower and wider, facilitating a natural and effortless stand-up riding posture. Like its counterpart, the Triumph Scrambler 400 X features advanced technology, including switchable traction control, ride-by-wire throttle, and a Bosch dual-channel ABS system. Riders also have the option to disable ABS at the rear wheel for a more personalized riding experience.

The Scrambler 400 X prioritizes off-road capability with a 43 mm big-piston upside-down fork up front, offering 150 mm of travel. At the rear, it maintains the same 150 mm travel, ensuring a balanced and capable suspension setup. Notably, this model is equipped with a larger 19-inch front wheel and wider handlebars, further enhancing its off-road prowess.

The cast steel brake pedal and high-grip footpegs, placed lower and wider, promote an optimal riding position for off-road adventures. Additionally, the Scrambler 400 X features a slightly larger 320 mm front disc equipped with a radially-mounted four-piston caliper from ByBre, paired with a 230 mm single-pot caliper on the rear wheel, ensuring confident and responsive braking performance.
